Her story
December 24, 2018.
Krystal fell into a coma caused by HLH, a rare, life-threatening immune disorder where the body attacks itself. She experienced kidney failure, brain and lung infections, and multiple life-threatening complications. Doctors prepared her family, friends, and her nine-year-old son, Max, for her death.
She survived. Rebuilding meant confronting memory loss and relearning how to walk and talk. It took determination, the courage to begin again, and the willingness to accept help.
Before the fracture, Krystal modeled nationally and internationally and studied vocal performance at Berklee College of Music. After the coma and a tracheostomy, she returned to studio singing. She believes she survived for one reason: to help others navigate life’s unforeseen challenges and turn trauma into something purposeful.
